what our past clients say about our program

"Ryan’s 5-day shape up program has been so special for me. When I started working out with Ry, I was going through a depression and my anxiety was eating at me and everything around me was chaotic. I had been struggling with my weight for over a year and a half, but since training with Ry, my mindset on my health and training has changed drastically and has motivated me in ways that I can’t explain.

I’m more eager to workout out, my endurance has increased and my eating habits have changed. I’ve dropped 20 pounds in 2 months of ZOOM workouts that have been extremely efficient and I can’t thank Ryan enough for pushing me to my limit and motivating me to go harder. Not only has this helped with weight loss but has had a huge impact on the depression and anxiety I was dealing with due to COVID. I am in a better place than I've ever been, physically and mentally. I can’t wait to see what's next as I continue with RyFitness."

- brittney, 28

"Ryfitness offers nothing but the best! He works with all fitness levels and pushes you outside of your comfort zone! I highly recommend his fitness training to everyone! You will lose inches, feel motivated and want to push yourself harder in his training. Looking forward to our next class!"

frequently asked questions

Q.
How can i get motivated to pursue fitness?
A.
Motivation is when you're struggling trying to finish your last paragraph in school to complete your paper for class in the morning. Motivation is something that starts then goes away quicker than it came. You will need discipline and consistency to begin your new journey. Pursuing fitness should be considered something that needs to get done to live longer, healthier and happier.  Don’t let motivation determine if you should stick to your meal plan or go to gym.Instead you should practice discipline so you can stay consistent.
Q.
What should I do to have a healthy diet?
A.
It’s all about being mindful about how many calories you're consuming. It doesn't matter how your food is labeled (whole, clean, low-fat, etc.),  eating an excessive amount of calories, will cause serious health issues.
Q.
Does weight training make you bulky?
A.
This question is asked from mainly women clients. Women do not have the ability to bulk up, easily because they have less testosterone than men. Weight training is very good for maintaining lean and a toned-up look, so don’t be scared to lift some weights.
Q.
Is cardio better than weight training to lose fat?
A.
Cardio is great for your heart, overall well being and burning calories. However, to maximize your workout you should weight/strength train to burn more calories. You need muscle to burn body fat and lean out once you do lose weight. So if you enjoy cardio, that’s fine, just don’t overdo it, and for that matter, don’t over do anything!
Q.
How come the scale shows me as being heavier, but I’m losing inches?
A.
Well, your muscles use glycogen to perform strength training. So when you start working out, your muscles will  store more and more glycogen. This in turn can make you heavier. Also, keep in mind that muscle and fat both weighs the same. Fat takes up 3 times as much space as muscle! So you’ll be 5 lbs heavier but  dropped two pants or dress sizes. A better way to gauge your fitness level is to do a body fat check!
Q.
Can I workout and achieve my goals with pre-existing injuries?
A.
Depending on your activity level your goals are always attainable. You will need a customized workout program including a recovery program and a proper nutrition plan. If you have all this you should be all set.

Ryan Henry

Owner and Operator of RyFitness

I am Ryan Henry, born in Stamford, Connecticut, but it was in Fort Lauderdale,  where my fitness journey began. From a young age, I saw how fitness could unite people and improve lives. Today, I own and operate RyFitness, driven by the belief that everyone deserves to look and feel their best. My motivation comes from seeing my clients transform physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, intellectually and financially.

My journey into the world of fitness took a significant turn during my college years. I pursued a degree in Exercise Science from the University of West Florida. Armed with this knowledge and fueled by a personal desire to educate and empower my community about health and fitness, I embarked on a career as a personal trainer. My earliest clients included my own mother and her friends, who experienced remarkable transformations under my guidance. Their journeys inspired me to expand my reach and share my passion with the world.

My role as Director of Sports Performance at Chicago State University reflects my unwavering dedication to the pursuit of athletic excellence, holistic well-being, and community engagement.I am proud of the contributions I've made during my tenure, which have undoubtably left a lasting impact on the university's sports programs and the lives of the student athletes I've had the privilege to mentor and train.

But my commitment to community well-being extends beyond the gym. I've organized and hosted various events, such as "Walk with Mommy," aimed at educating women about breast cancer and encouraging healthy lifestyle choices to reduce risks. I've also taken the lead in the "Healthy Kids Backpack" Giveaway event, raising awareness about childhood obesity. These initiatives reflect my dedication to giving back to the community that has supported my journey.

My ongoing dream is to inspire individuals of all ages and backgrounds to embrace fitness, leading them toward healthier lives and fostering a stronger sense of community. With my unwavering dedication and expertise, I am excited to join you on your journey towards health and fitness, ready to guide and support you in achieving your goals.
